What I dislike about the book is that the publisher, to save money, puts all the pictures into the center of the book instead of integrating them with each written section about the animals.

This is where the Pantanal Wildlife book by James Lowen is a much better field guide, and being more compact it is also a better book to take along to Brazil/5(20). I also have David Pearson's Brazil: Amazon And Pantanal (Travellers' Wildlife Guides).

While this is also a good book, its more like reading a scientific textbook and is considerably more difficult (and less entertaining) to read, with the result that I learned a lot less from it/5(49). I used this book for a recent trip to Brazil's Pantanal.
